SAMUEL

MEANING OF NAME : HEARD APPOINTED OF GOD, OR OFFERING OF GOD. STORY IN BRIEF : Samuel, the Nazarite, was the son of Hannah and Elkanah of Ephraim. He was the first Hebrew Prophet of Israel following Moses but the last before the judges. Just after his mother dedicated him to the Lord, he was made to serve in Eli's shiloh as a priest. For his special assignments for the Lord, Samuel was specially forbidden from taking wine, and touching dead body. He also dedicated the Power of his head to God by preserving his hair.  Samuel had his first major prophetic at about the age of twelve, which was against Eli's family guilt. Being a military leader also, he helped his people win battles against the Philistines. LISTEN CAREFULLY !

" Be careful therefore how you listen..."  Luke 8:18.

Words do not only have the efficacy to colour our thoughts; with their forceful potency, they simulate and propel our Spirits into a certain direction. Whereas some words deepen our fears, others expand our faith depending on their source.

God-originated Words do not only invigorate us with His POWER; they also never disappoint when we live them out. So we are charged from our opening verse to listen to God alone. And when we do, we must also understand Him so we can aptly effect His Words.

Here's the reason for the failure of some prophecies -  The Prophet of God might be mistaking another voice for God's voice or he misinterpretes what he actually heard God say leading to an erroneous application. It's the reason why James says, " be quick to listen but slow to speak". James 1:19.

Ezekiel, the Prophet of God, full of this wisdom, would never prophesy until God first commanded him. And when he did, he said exactly as God had instructed. Not so, he would fail. ( Ezekiel 37:1-8  ).

You went on that trip in honour of a friend's invitation; you married that sister or brother by following your heart; you persued that course or started that business on the advice of someone else. Whatever it was, probably, it yielded little or no result because rather than hearing God, you acted in response to your feelings or in reponse to the counsel of others.

But now, I pray,  in the name of our Lord Jesus, that God Himself brings us up to that level of Spiritual maturity where we always make our moves based on His Voice or commands. For no one says and it comes through unless God commands ! ( Lamentations 3:37 )
