  MEANING OF NAME : Drawn forth or taken out of water. PROFILE OR CHARACTER : historian, orator, leader, statesman, legislator and a patriot. REGRET : Moses could not enter the promised land. JOY : Not only did he successfully bring out the Israelites from Egypt, but he had the privilege to be called, " Friend of God."  STORY IN BRIEF:   MOSES, a son of Jechrobe and Amram, and the last of Aeron and Miriam. Moses was born at the time Pharaoh ordered that all Israelites young males be killed. So her mum had to preserve him till she was ordered to go leave him at the bank of a river. Pharaoh's daughter who later found Moses in a basket on the river, cared for him in their palace through his maturity. THE GREATEST WEAPON !

  “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds…. “ 2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV As christians, we are not improverished of ammunitions with which to withstand the enemy and his wiles. Yet these weapons are variably effective. There is, therefore, the need to look into the nature of each of them and reasonably determine the most productive. According to Paul, in the preceding scripture, our arms are not physical; prayer, praise/worship, faith, obedience and Light, are all rather abstract though results-yielding. ANNA

MEANING: Grace. SORROW: As a widow, she would probably have been among the most vulnerable members of society, with no one to provide for her financially or to take care of her if her health failed. JOY: That her own eyes beheld the Messiah she had longed to see. STORY IN BRIEF: Anna, a Prophetess from the tribe of Asher, became a widow after seven years of marriage. She spent whole of her widowhood fasting and praying to God. Anna worshipped in Herod's temple. This temple had tour segments - the outer court for Gentiles or non-Jews; the inner court divided into Women's and Israelites'; the Priestly court for the Leviticus Priests which also surrounded the temple. Anna could only access the Women's court yet God was merciful to her - She witnessed the Messiah; while Anna worshipped in the temple one day, Someon came holding the baby Jesus in his laps. SOWING THE RIGHT WAY !

" For there is a right time and procedure to every purpose..." Ecclesiastes 8:6 A seed is a  gift offered to God or to a man in demonstration of LOVE or HATRED. It takes the forms of money, property, crops, physical food, words of the tongue and attitude.  Seeds - good or bad, reproduce their kind. This, we must understand in our walk with God and in our relationship with man. The one who desires to reap good fruits must sow good seeds ! SHUN DISTRACTIONS !

  “And still the Christians in the churches in Judea didn’t know me personally. All they knew was that people were saying, “The one who used to persecute us is now preaching the very faith he tried to destroy!” And they praised God because of me” (Gal. 1:22-24, NLT). Many people have been held captive by what others think of them. They are afraid to stand for the truth. When people criticize you for one thing or the other, do you forsake your calling? Don’t forget you are not accountable to man but to God. Paul persecuted and killed the Christians in his day. But he became a new person after his encounter with Jesus on the way to Damascus. Some of the people found it difficult to admit that he had changed. And even when he spoke and preached about Christ, some were not convinced. GOD'S ARMOUR ( Pt. 1)

 

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Ephesians 6:13‭-‬17 KJV


Paul wasn't intimated by the Romans soldiers who guarded him in prison. He would rather proclaim that he sat in heavenly places while God gave him an analogy of the centurion's armour upon which his eyes were fixed. The Apostle, in his letter to the Ephesians, touched on this revelation as in our opening scripture. Today's part of the subject, however, discusses The Helmet of Salvation. ( Ephesians 2:6 )


Now, snapily describing the centurian's headgear ( helmet) helps us understand better how The Helmet of Salvation works. The design of the Roman soldier's helmet is such that it protects the back of the neck and the soldier's face - forehead, nose, eyes, ears and jaw of teeth. So The helmet of salvation - The Gospel of Jesus, wholly secures our thought and face. 


PROTECTION FOR THE THOUGHT

The helmet guards our mind - WILL, EMOTIONS and INTELLECT, against satan's fiery darts like fear, mistrust and hatred. Since the mind is also a spiritual battleground, the helmet also guides our mind processes into Victory. The mind is the soul of a man. And a man's physical prosperity largely depends on the prosperity of his soul.Thus, the need to secure the wellness of our soul with the Helmet of Salvation ( 3 John 1:2 ).


PROTECTION FOR THE FACE

Just like the physical body, the human spirit also has spiritual senses. Our Spirits have eyes to see Visions, ear to hear God's Voice, nose to smell divine aroma, tongue to taste the goodness of God and skin to feel the touch or presence of Spirit entities. When the face is exposed, the devil may blind our spiritual eyes and deafen our spiritual ears. But thanks be unto God ! The Helmet of Salvation covers the Spirit's sense organs on the face as we wear it on.


But how do wear this helmet? The Helmet of Salvation, which is the gospel of Jesus, is worn when we replace our old, vain thoughts with those cited in Philipians 4:8. Romans 12:2 says, " ... But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." That's how we put on The Helmet of Salvation.


It's worth noting that before the Roman soldier wore his headgear, he first polished it's sufface with oil. Thus, the helmet so shun on sunny days and blinded the eyes of rivals. This oiled metallic gear, would also slip off the palms of their enemies and sharply deflect their weapons ( swords).


Brethen, do not just dorn your helmet; first, let it also be anointed of The Spirit such that it is shiny and eye-blinding to the enemy.
